There's something uniquely calming about embarking on a leisurely stroll along the Katy Trail with a hot latte in the fall and winter. Either with friends by your side or in the most excellent company of yourself there’s something about cupping your hands around that warm sleeve that soothes the soul. As you stroll the trail, take in each step as you would the next sip. The earthy smells, tranquil scenery and historical charm of the trail will come to life in a new way when slowly savored. Maybe, if even for a minute, you forget “all the things”. Nature and a good cup of coffee, transformative don’t ya’ think?
You’ll have no trouble finding a great coffee experience, here are a few of our favorite Knox coffee stops blocks from the Knox Trail entrance.
Recent newcomers to the Knox area, Berkley’s Market is an instant local favorite! For neighbors of the Knox area, this upscale market , eatery , and coffee shop has all the neighborhood needs you might expect and a few you might not! Shelves are equipped with everything from household paper goods to perfectly poised bottles of Dom Perignon …mimosas anyone? Oh, wait, we are talking coffee- well, they have that too! The oat milk latte was silky perfection and paired nicely with the hazelnut rice crispy treat. Dang, I wish I didn’t know that existed.
Another local favorite, Village Bakery, is cozy, cozy like your favorite old movie. It’s Parisian feel and epicurean delights are a perfect place to grab coffee before hitting the trail or leisurely noshing on a croissant sandwich or dessert pastry with friends after you catch up on the Katy Trail. If you’ve never experienced the dense buttery Kouign Amann you really must indulge. I’m pretty sure my Texas twang missed the mark on ordering this treat correctly… I now know, it’s pronounced “Queen Aman”.
Fall and the iconic pumpkin spice latte have become synonymous. Were’ gonna kick it old school on this one. Starbucks is classic, quick and also right around the corner. With endless options to make this fall bevi your own we must give credit where credit is due. Local or not.
Enjoy your lattes and cappuccinos trail blazers, see you on the Katy Trail!
